If you've ever dreamed of owning a serious German V12 coupe, but your circumstances have left you driving a Fiero, here's your big chance to trade up!
The current owner of this classic Mercedes 600SEC is looking to make an even trade on a Fiero. This may seem like a huge step down, but the guy had an epiphany, or as he put it: "Just had a dream where I was cruising in a swapped fiero just moments ago and like they say, follow your dreams." So who can really argue with that?
He's pretty detailed about what the car has had done and what it needs, and it seems to be decent enough (evaporator and suspension have both been dealt with, which is huge for these cars, plus a new set of MB OEM 18" wheels), and the things that still need fixing aren't mind-blowing either.
So if your dream was to swap your crappy Fiero on a twelve-cylinder luxury autobahn machine, this is probably your only chance. Carpe diem!

This makes me wonder..
How bad the fiero was?
I never drove one. Altough as a former S600 W140 owner, that thing is just amazing.

to my knowledge, the I4 "iron duke" in it was ridiculously slow/awful, the car itself I have no idea about, hope this helps

Oh Well..
To the the contrary, the W140 6L V12 was ridiculously fast. Honestly it's quite hard to guess how fast you're going in a W140..

I asked something similar a while back, and someone said that although the early Fieros were total rubbish, they did make a half-decent version later on in production. It was a mid-engined RWD car, so it had some basic good points, but the early suspension was shit and the engines were rubbish and underpowered. The 1988 (last) year got much better suspension and reasonable power from the engines.
Being Euro based, I don't think I've ever even seen a Fiero, let alone driven one, but that's what I've heard.

"The anti lock breaks don't work, it's the pump. $500 bucks for the pump but doesn't effect how it stops so the heck with it."
Ouch. That's an accident waiting to happen. The guy sounds like a complete cowboy, so I wouldn't touch his old expensive Merc with your bargepole, but that's a serious safety issue. A car without working ABS is not just a car with a non-abs braking system. Without working ABS, the first time you hit the brakes hard the rear wheels will lock and you'll spin out, because ABS-equipped cars have a much stronger rear-ward brake bias than is normal otherwise, and rely on the ABS to control it.

Aren't the V12 in these cars a pain/expensive to maintain? Or am I getting this mixed up with the later 6.0L twin turbos?
Also, am I the only one who sees the "You're in luck" in the side pane shown as " You're "? Just plain weird.
